Butanone, also known as Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), is a high quality liquid solvent for use on styrene card and a whole range of plastic products. Modellers should regard Butanone as a first choice solvent and it should always be used when working with C&L track chairs and sleepers. It is highly inflammable and can be irritating to the eyes and respiratory system. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking and the vapours can cause drowsiness and dizziness. MEK is effective in 'welding' ABS to itself, plywood and polystyrene. Remember - it evaporates, so keep the lid on tight.
